After attending a function this past Summer for another charity we were approached by Heidi Albertsen, the Chief Ambassador for Life Project for Africa. We agreed to attend a meeting with her and another board member and were impressed with the multifaceted areas that LPA covers. The areas of concentration are:
- Empowering local organizations to provide critical services to the people in Africa.
- Partnering to construct wards for Njia Health Center in Dar-Es-Salaam, to eventually serve a community of 122,000 people.
- Partnering with Rotary International to provide water.
- Supporting indigenous organizations whose goal is capacity-building for local projects involved in health, economic empowerment, education, care of orphans and providing shelter.
- Providing tuition to vulnerable and orphaned children in Africa.
- Shipping medical supplies and equipment to Njia Health Center, in partnership with several U.S. hospitals and health providers.
- Participating in the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan / PEPFAR).
- Embarking on an educational initiative called Mwambo Computer & E-learning. The focus is increasing access to basic quality education through e-learning programs.
- Supporting the building of a school in Tanzania. |
