The Cause… Habitat for Humanity

Since its founding in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity International has built and rehabilitated more than 300,000 houses with partner families, helping house more than 1.5 million people and becoming a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.

Foundation Support…

Commitment plus $100,000 per year for 5 years for homes in Madagascar.

In 2007 we directed our funds to the Philippines. Now Foundation is supporting their plan in Madagascar where they can build for $1,500 per house

An Inspiration… photoDolly and I were featured in their April ’07 newsletter. Habitat gets a big bang for their buck when they built in Africa.

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.

Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor—sweat equity—into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
